But faith doesn’t keep the fog from creeping in. It doesn’t stop the trees from whispering, nor the river from calling back the names it’s taken.

You’ve come to town for your own reasons—maybe you were born here, maybe you’re just passing through. But today, no one is passing through. Today, everyone is gathered in the square, heads bowed, hands clenched tight. Not in reverence. Not in peace. But in fear.
